Some Sophie funnies

Sophie's speech has really been improving this last month. The speech therapist and lots of practice are doing wonders. Now that I actually understand more of what she is trying to say, I am getting a huge kick out of her.

Two recent favorites:

1. The other morning, Bria (my early bird) got Sophie up before I (the resident insomniac/night owl) got out of bed. After playing for a bit, Sophia came into my room and pulled on my hand.

"Out. Bed. Mommy," she begged. Then she handed me my glasses, took my hand and said, "Mon. I hony"

I asked her if she would like me to get her some cereal and she very authoritatively answered, "No! Pahtates!"

I was so not in the mood to get up and make pancakes, but Bria offered to make her eggs and Sophie was fine with that. And I got to sleep a few minutes longer.

2. A few days ago Chloe and Sophia were sitting at the kitchen table coloring. Sophie had a little toy cat and was saying, "mow, mow" and moving it around as she simultaneously drew her pictures. Chloe started saying "meow" too, and apparently Sophia didn't like it very much, because the next thing I heard was, "DOH TOPY ME!" in the biggest, growliest voice that a little two year old could muster.

I'm still laughing about that one. It serves Bria and Chloe right for freaking out at each other over the whole copying business. I probably shouldn't think it's so hilarious, though. I certainly didn't when I was 8 and my little brothers always copied whatever I said.

Very cute. You'd think kids would outgrow the copying thing. I'm hoping that some day . . . but I've got a teenager already, and nope. Not yet. It's not so cute anymore. :D

I love when they become understandable! The pancakes is my favorite. . .probably because that's what my kiddos are begging for this morning. And just because I love them (and we've had so much sadness in our community this weekend), I'm going to give in and make them. I'm already up, dressed, and have my make up on. Hair only takes 10 minutes. However, if I had the option of sleeping more, I would probably choose that!

Glad she is doing so well with speech therapy...sometimes parents don't intervene young enough and it is twice as hard to correct speech the older they get...good for you ! LOL

BTW, "Don't copy me" was one of my kids issues with each other too along with "He/ she is looking at me" or "Stop looking at me !"
Those, I do not miss...

That is wonderful that she is doing so well in Speech Therapy!

We just had an incident of the "stop copying me" crap this morning.

I love to watch my children at that age. Their little personalities start to shine through. Especially when they can communicate easier!

I wish I had a digital recorder for some of the things my little guy says... wish I'd had one for all of them.
:D

That is so funny. I laugh at my kids too when they get so upset about copying. Then those poor kids are mad at me too. :o)

It'd be great for all parent to be able to take a class on speech -- I did a lot of stuff one on one with S to get him to talk more, but it'd be nice to know specifics.

Funny. It's fun to remember how much copying bugged us when we were little, but, to be honest, it still bugs me when my kids copy me.

I love little kidisms.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. I felt like I was really going a little beyond my comfort level there, and I was glad that people seemed to understand. Thanks also for following me. I'll return the gesture ...

Jonas is starting to say more and more. We all try to listen very carefully to make sure we can place what he's saying. I love how he called Zoie, Dohie.
